Benjamin’s umbilical cord fell off a few days ago, so we were able to give him his first “real” bath:
I thought about posting pictures of him in the tub, but hey, would you want pictures of you in the tub posted on the internet? So, you get to see “first bath aftermath”.

What are they doing with the cord nowadays? Is there a special process to donate the cord blood?

I don’t know. You can have stem cells from your baby’s umbilical cord harvested and stored for possible future use for him/her, but it costs quite a bit to do that.
I don’t know what the hospital did with Benjamin’s cord, but we just threw away the little stub once it fell off. I asked my wife if she wanted to keep the stub, but she said no.
